WHY SHOULD I GET INVOLVED?

You and/or your organization can help create brand new programs to benefit students, faculty and staff on campus. Your work will help leave a footprint with a lasting impact by creating programs that align with your organization’s goals and purpose.

IS THE UW-MADISON LEADERSHIP FRAMEWORK SOLELY FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT PROGRAMS?

No. Programs are being designed for students at all levels, professional staff members, and faculty seeking to expand their leadership capacity. Leadership programs provide valuable knowledge, skills, and abilities that can be used in professional and academic environments.

HOW IS THE SUCCESS OF LEADERSHIP @ UW BEING MEASURED?

Feedback is important in assessing the success and progress of Leadership @ UW. Periodic surveys are issued to students, faculty and staff to gauge impact. By analyzing responses, we are able to concentrate on programming gaps and redundancies. Leadership @ UW is working with campus researchers to design methods for studying outcomes of implementing the UW-Madison Leadership Framework. In addition, Leadership @ UW teams set annual goals and track their achievements.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE ISN’T CAMPUS-WIDE PARTICIPATION AND BUY-IN?

It is not necessary for the entire campus to fully integrate the UW-Madison Leadership Framework into programs, courses, and workshops. We believe Leadership @ UW is beneficial to individuals and organizations that choose to get involved. Leadership @ UW provides opportunities for collaboration between departments on the shared goal for good leadership programming regardless of campus-wide adoption.

CAN MY SCHOOL/COLLEGE/DEPARTMENT USE A THEORY OR MODEL THAT IS DIFFERENT FROM THE UW-MADISON LEADERSHIP FRAMEWORK?

Yes. We have designed the framework to incorporate many ideas and perspectives regarding leadership growth, without being overly prescriptive. The framework is reviewed on an annual basis to ensure its relevance over time.
